Healthy Natural Hair Takes Care NOT Sacrifice

PRLog (Press Release) – May 27, 2009 – “I wore short styles for a few years and it looked really nice, but the constant relaxing, and hot ironing did a number on my hair. It just started breaking off in patches starting at the center of my head. I was devastated, so I just started cutting,” says Nikki, a new client at New York City-based Arli Blake Hair Design  (www.ArliBlake.com).
It’s a common misconception among new natural hair clients to believe that the only way to get regain healthy hair is to cut it down to a little afro and start from scratch. When they look in the mirror at the breakage, the split ends, and the thinning, panic sets in.
Primary reasons for these poor hair conditions are:

-   Over-processing by using chemical relaxers or hair color dyes too often or in concentrations that are too strong for your hair type

-   Poor maintenance and lack of conditioning/treatment of natural hair while wearing hair extensions

-   Traction Alopecia (A condition where the natural hair is literally pulled out due to physical pulling on the root. Often seen at temples of micro braid wearers.)
The solution to the problem may not necessarily lie in drastic measures like cutting off all the damaged hair – really, that should be a last resort. There are many other realistic options to consider. Depending on the actual state of damage of the natural hair you may be able to maintain your lengths, while growing new, virgin hair.
1.   Try a weekly treatment geared at repairing damaged strands, like the science-based Intensive Revitalizer, with all-natural humectants & Keratin Amino Acids.

2.   Use a daily conditioner to protect and polish your hair – especially when using heat styling tools, instead of gel or hairspray like Quench It Leave-In Treatment Spray.

3.   Replenish moisture to strands1-3 times each week with Exotic Butter Blend Moisture Balm.
Restoring the health and vitality of your damaged hair is a process that will take weeks and even months, so be prepared. But, if you stick to a solid treatment regimen with quality science-based products, you could start seeing and feeling amazing results without taking any unnecessary, drastic measures.
